About the Temperature Converter
Type a temperature into any of the three fields — Celsius, Fahrenheit or Kelvin — and the other two update at the same moment. There is no convert button and nothing is sent to a server; the maths runs in your browser.
The formulas behind it: Fahrenheit = Celsius × 9/5 + 32, and Kelvin = Celsius + 273.15. To go the other way, Celsius = (Fahrenheit − 32) × 5/9.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply the Celsius temperature by 9/5 (1.8) and add 32. For example, 20°C × 1.8 + 32 = 68°F. Or just type the Celsius value into the converter above.
How do I convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Subtract 32 from the Fahrenheit temperature, then multiply by 5/9. For example, (98.6 − 32) × 5/9 = 37°C.
What is absolute zero?
Absolute zero is 0 K, which equals −273.15°C or about −459.67°F — the lowest temperature theoretically possible.
At what temperature are Celsius and Fahrenheit the same?
At −40. That is the one point where −40°C and −40°F are exactly equal.
